Nant de Rossane Via Ferrata

Les Aillons has a via ferrata "school" adapted for learning climbing for via ferrata.
It is situated on the right hand side of the Col du Martinet at approximately 1000 m altitude. By car follow directions for the resort and at the roundabout turn left into the La Mense estate. The car park is at the end of la Chapelle road just above the riding centre.
Access to the via ferrata takes about 10 minutes from the car park by a well-worn path.
Time : 1 - 1hr. 30 minutes there and back.
There are 3 sections :
- 1st section: Fairly difficult - total length: 100 m - 1 ladder 5 m - 1 suspended cable bridge 8 m.
- 2nd section : Easy - total length : 80 m - 1 footbridge 5 m.
- 3rd section : Difficult - total length : 90 m - 1 monkey bridge 12 m - 1 tyrolean slide 20 m - 1 monkey bridge 5 m.
Section 1 enables learning
how to manipulate lanyards using passages where there are intermediate anchor points for security.
Following a small path, you rejoin section 2 where there is an almost horizontal series of ledges. Arriving at section 3 there is the possibility of an alternative easier way from the end of the footbridge going up a small ramp.
Before crossing the footbridge, there is a direct access to section 3 by a short diagonal ascent and a horizontal traverse under overhangs where it is extremely steep. Then there is the crossing of a hollow on the 15 m monkey bridge (2 cables). There is a small 20 m zip slide at the end of the via ferrata (pulley obligatory ).
